Residence and Gallery

Orchard Lake, Michigan (1997)

This 10,000 s.f. residence was designed in collaboration with Aldo Rossi and SDA, The residence is sited midway along a deep lot which slopes gently to a lake. The expansive project combines a more traditional residential program with a monumental three-story glazed gallery space, meant to house the owner's extensive collection of art and design objects. The gallery acts as an urban scaled porch to the house proper, and is detailed using a modern steel and glass curtain wall. The residential portion of the house, using traditional wood construction techniques, features an oval dining room, double-height living room, and theater and entertainment level opening out to the garden, pool and lake.
